Caramel Apple Ingredients

6 eating Apples

115g Butter

200g brown sugar

100g Golden Syrup

200g Condensed milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

To Decorate

Hazelnuts nuts, toasted almonds, pecans finely chopped

Green nonpareils

Milk chocolate

White chocolate

1.Bring a large saucepan of water to a boil. Dip apples in boiling water for a few seconds, then dry with paper towels to remove any wax. Set apples to one side, when completely cool, insert a wooden stick firmly into the bottom of each apple for a handle.

2.Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

3.Stir butter, brown sugar, golden syrup, and condensed milk together in a saucepan over a low heat, stirring occasionally. Bring to a boil for about 15-20 minutes, stirring frequently. Cook until a candy thermometer reads 130°C. You can test that it is ready by a teaspoon of the syrup, dropped in a glass of cold water, should form a hard ball. Remove caramel from heat and stir in vanilla extract. 

4. Working quickly, carefully take each apple and roll in the toffee to coat completely. Sprinkle or dip apples in any desired toppings while still hot. Leave to set on the parchment until hard.

5. Melt the chocolate and spoon into a disposable icing bag, cut the end of and drizzle on top of the apples, sprinkle with any extra toppings and leave to set.

6. Enjoy with friends and loved ones.
